MEka on Morning Jerk wants Letterman's head
She asks "Am I being too shrill?" Yes. I find it unsavory that MSNBC should devote it's entire first segment to the pangs of CBS and speculating on what they know nothing about. Good gawd. Get a life, MEka. Unlike Rash Limberger, Letterman is a comedian who is not the boss of a political party.

IMHO only.

They had to depend on Pat Buchanan to make that point?

Pathetic.

3. What A Waste Of Electrons...And Today's Poutrage/Distraction
Another reason I avoid watching MSNBC until the afternoon. I constantly see people out here harping about what she or Joey have to say. Who really cares.

Remember, Letterman is a wingnut target from his exposing of McCain last year and embarassing Palin this year. I expect the wignut world to throw their daily poutrage toward him. It's also handy as a distraction about the front page story in today's New York Times detailing how rushpublican John Ensign was also stooping the help and used his power to try to cover it up.

7. it was weird
that Mika defended Roman Polanski multiple times this week, yet she thinks that Letterman is a horrible person for this, because it reveals "abuse of power" in the workplace. Yet she said nothing about the 48 hours producer who "she knows".

13. yeah
Lots of people emailed Mika with "uh, don't you have a 13 year old daughter, Mika?" and she pulled the "oh, I'm being attacked" thing that she always does . Mika resents CBS because she was fired from there, there's a profile of her in More Magazine (I read it online, read if you want to hate Mika even more than you already do)...she talks about how she felt like a "shiny new penny" (her words)when the networks had bidding wards over her, and when she didn't have a job, she sent out Christmas cards with pictures of her with vodka bottles with "Mommy needs a job"...seriously. She thinks everything that happened with her career was just because she is a woman and not because she sucks.

15. Unbelievable that she would defend Polanski, especially
since, unlike an attack on Dave, it would seem to lack political advantage.

All one can hope for is that she and Joe Schmuck become so increasingly unpopular (the concept of her as the "liberal contrast" to Schmuck is a joke) that their dumb show goes to Ratings Hell and is cancelled.

18. oh my
now she is trying to pretend like she wasn't dismissing the Polanski thing earlier this week, comparing the Letterman thing to "Hollywood defending Roman Polanski". Mika! Your viewers emailed and twittered you that the Roman Polanski thing WAS a big deal when you were brushing it off, you liar. She is unbelievable.

You can't expect real journalism to trump the needs of an insatiable power-hungry conglomerate.

17. What many people do not realize about the entertainment community is this
Edited on Fri Oct-02-09 06:56 AM by SoCalDem
There is a very quick , and intense "familiarity" in that venue.. I spent some time in stage work in college mostly, and it's not very long before people are fraternizing willingly..sharing dressing rooms, & much more. modesty goes away pretty fast when you have a 30 second costume change with all kinds of people hanging around..some of them helping to dress you.. You spend hours and hours together, sharing an experience, and you bond. Letterman is also part of the creative team, so he's not just some guy who sits up in an office, overseeing the peons while they work..

Women like funny men, powerful men, and Letterman is both..and he's always had a boyishness about him.. I seriously doubt that any of the women he dallied with were young pages.. these women were likely to have been adult women..colleagues of his, who were more than willing to have an affair with him.. until he and Regina had Harry, and he was unmarried, there were probably many women who crossed paths with him, who thought they might be "the one" to "catch" him.

Regina was a "women who worked for him"..and technically everyone there works "for him".. He had a longstanding relationship with another woman.. her name escapes me..so there was probably "overlap" during the girlfriends.

It may have been a mean thing to do to Regina, but I doubt that this happened since his marriage..and may have happened before Harry was born..so if he cheated on her (his girlfriend at the time), I'd bet money that Regina knew about these other women, and probably long before they finally married..

I feel sorry for his wife who will have a few uncomfortable times over the notoriety, but on a scale of important things.. this is about a 0.15 on a scale of 1-10

23. Merrill Markoe
She was his head writer and his girlfriend:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merrill_Markoe

After they broke up in the 80's he began seeing Ms. Laskoe, who knew about the other women, as did Dave's mom:

Apparently neither the extortion attempt, nor the fact that Letterman slept with women on his show, were news to Letterman's wife of seven months, Regina Laskoe, who had told Letterman's mother Dorothy Mengering about it earlier in the day. "I'm looking forward to seeing the show to see what he has to say," Mengering told the New York Daily News. "I really just found out today."

You're right about show business. It's pretty familial.

Just the same, while I absolutely believe that cheating is hurtful and wrong, I've seen both sides of that fence and can make no judgments.

Apparently, Mika is above such human weakness, which is pretty confusing because I can't seem to get the image of a clucking hen out of my mind when I think of her.

22. God. She's so bad I can't watch her at all. She's torture.

Words fail to describe her. It's like she exists with mirrors circling her head. I've never seen anyone so self-centered on tv in my entire life. What is wrong with NBC? Who makes these decisions? Don't they know that we're sick and tired of the "personality" endlessly boring us to death.

It's no wonder the MSM is going broke. They just don't get it.

37. K&R to undo the usual inexplicable UnRecKKK!1 Mika MOUSE frothed for 3 hours
excoriating Dave. The 3 dudes --Nazi-BUCHANAN, GEIST, and Useless-Harold-FORD--- acted like they were eunuchs. It wasn't until DEUSCH, who has had a history of his own, showed up and said that "we" shouldn't pretend that office sex doesn't happen that MOUSE was shut down somewhat.

Plus, MOUSE kept harping on what a "good organization CBS is" and how it HAS to "investigate." Uh, about the ONLY mitigating little characteristic about MOUSE I have ever found is the loyalty she has shown to Dan RATHER, having him as a guest on the show and showing respect throughout his conflict with the "good organization CBS." I guess she forgot what CBS is capable of.
