6 charged with burning Olympic banner (priceless mugshots)
I am sorry but I HAD to post this because of the mugshots...

Six people were charged with mob action today for yanking an Olympic banner from the Daley Center's Picasso statue and tossing it into the "eternal" flame, authorities said.

Charged are brothers Jeremy Hammond, of Chicago, and Jason Hammond, of Glendale Heights, both 24; Brian Brown, 22, of Itasca; Jeremy Sorkin, 21, of Chicago; Johnathan Clark, 21, of Rocky Mount, N.C.; and Anna Stafford, 20, of Wheatfield, Ind., said Tandra Simonton, a spokeswoman for the Cook County state's attorney's office.
The six were arrested just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, but weren't believed to be a part of an anti-Olympics bid rally that took place in front of City Hall earlier that day, police said.

1. jeremy sorkin appears to be the 'brains' of the operation...
which is probably just a relative term in this case.

btw- are the hammond brothers twins...? they look equally creepy.

And we all know that people are at their best for police mugshots.

18. Burning a banner and getting caught is an excellent basis for judgment.

9. I'm wondering if they actually do and just despise the IOC
I try to like the Olympics, but those fuckers make it increasingly difficult these past several years. I can understand folks not caring for an organization that, say, tries to force every Greek restaurant in town to close or change their name/decor for the duration of the games, or which tries to secure the rights to national anthems.

14. Or forces companies to change their names!
The one I work for is still hurting after the IOC sued us. We're based out of Olympia, Washington. You'd think naming your company after the city you're in would be legal.

17. They sued the Improv Olympics here in Chicago a few years back, too.
I understand protecting a trademark but it seems like "Olympics" would have passed into public domain about 2,500 years ago.

Oh, and circles. They've sued people for having circles in their logos.

20. They're claiming the rights to a line from the Canadian national anthem, too
I loathe that organization so very very much, and it depresses me that the US and Canada both gave them what amounts to extraterritoriality for pulling stunts like this.

I almost said that in my earlier post - but the picture in the OP was too small for me to be sure it wasn't just a really bad curly hair day. White dude dreads really just don't do anything for me.
