120 hours to save Health care reform.
Edited on Thu Oct-08-09 10:45 AM by Pab Sungenis
That's all we've got left. 120 hours until the Senate Finance Committee is likely to vote for the biggest poison pill in the history of Conservademdom.

We only have 120 hours left to save health care reform from:

  • Individual mandates with criminal penalties

  • No public option

  • No cost controls

  • No employer mandate

  • Certain defeat by the House

120 hours to stop this travesty from poisoning the final Senate bill.

120 hours to give the provisions of the Kennedy/HELP bill a fighting chance.

120 hours to stop the Republicans and conservative Democrats from either killing reform or making our system even worse.

Call. Fax. Go to their websites and E-Mail. Tell the Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee to kill the Baucus Bill in committee, and give us a fighting chance at actually passing real reform.

2. In order to qualify for reconciliation, the bill must first pass Finance.
If we run with HELP alone, we are stuck with 60 votes and can't vote as a budget item (51).

3. We have 60 votes for cloture.
And if we don't, we'll have a couple fewer Democrats in the caucus next week.

Bring the Kennedy bill to the floor.

6. We only have 58 Democrats
While Sen Sanders will stand with us, Holy Joe is an unknown.

7. If Holy Joe wants to keep his chairmanship
he'll support cloture.

4. Thanks, will be letting them know I want them to kill the bill
Just so you know though, the public option is also an individual mandate and it will have criminal penalties, so not a good example to use.

9. Thanks for the information. I have printed it out and after work tomorrow morning,
I have permission to use the fax machine. They should get there before shop closes in Washington. Everyone on your list will get one from me. Again, thank you for your work.

11. That won't happen
our own friendly BlueDUgs and the "even bad change is still change" crowd will keep unrec'ing it, rather than admit that they're wrong.
