Survey mistakes Twin Falls for Sioux Falls
TWIN FALLS, Idaho -- In a case of mistaken identity, nearly 700 households in the southern Idaho city of Twin Falls were recently asked what they thought about the services of a city in South Dakota.

Twin Falls hired a Colorado-based firm in July to survey 1,200 households and gather input on services provided by the city, such as police, parks and animal control.

The Times News reports that the first round of the five-page surveys sent out by National Research Center, Inc., did not have errors, but the second batch asked residents what they thought about services in Sioux Falls.

Center President Thomas Miller says the mix-up is embarrassing for the company and shouldn't have happened.

The company is sending new surveys to the Twin Falls households that received the Sioux Falls questions.

5. you say Sioux, I say Twin
More understandably perhaps an AP headline read "South Dakota man murders ..." and the story was from San Diego. So somebody used the abbreviation SD for San Diego and somebody else logically concluded that it meant South Dakota and put that in the headline.
