What is more important, children or money?
Edited on Tue Apr-17-07 11:27 AM by CaptainRant
Wherever Bush goes, he has dozens of men who are armed to the teeth with guns around to protect him. Fort Knox, where gold is stored, is protected by hundreds of guns 24 hours a day. Many banks also use armed security to protect their money. We expect this and don't have a problem with it.

Yet we do NOT allow guns near schools.

Are CORRUPT POLITICIANS and MONEY more important to us as a society than the most precious resource we have, our children? Why do we protect the politicians and our money with guns, but leave our children completely vulnerable to attack?

The problem is compromise. We only go half way when restricting guns. It's an all or nothing game, people. Either you're with us in getting rid of guns, or people will continue to die. It's that simple.

5. It's deeper than that...
EVERYBODY wants their money protected, but many don't want guns protecting children...even many of us. Arguing over details on how far gun control should go only benefits the criminals who would perpetrate the crimes like we saw yesterday.

Either you're part of the solution, or you have blood on your hands. It's time to speak out.

2. Seems most people have no problem with...
protecting their money with guns. But won't let them near our children. Now do you see where you MUST come down on this issue?

3. Then I'm Against YOU
"Either you're with us in getting rid of guns, or people will continue to die. It's that simple."

Doesn't sound like a compromise to me!

6. Well, it's not that complicated...
Either you value money over our children OR you don't. No in between.

7. Just one armed security person
or even armed Dorm TA could have taken out the perp yesterday.

8. fantasy. most cops miss when they shoot
even though they are required to take regular practice.

You think a rent-a-cop would be better, just not believable.

How many people would the shooter have been able to kill, if he was armed with a shovel, baseball bat, hammer or wrench? 1-2, maybe if he was lucky....

10. Exactly. Cops don't rush into situations like...
we saw yesterday. They form a perimeter (see the video on the net) and MIGHT go in slowly when the gunfire dies down. Most often, they just wait. They will NOT protect you when something like this is actually going on. Unless you broke the law and carried a gun onto a school campus, you're in trouble.

The wishy-washy attempts to appease the gun lobby is what caused so many people to die yesterday. Either you get rid of them all or this kind of thing will continue to happen.

9. But don't you see...
Schools were declared Gun Free Zones in 1990. So protecting children with guns was made illegal...and people cheered. Pass a law saying you can't protect your money with guns and those same people would scream in opposition.

It's about values and what is important to us. Unless we get our priorities straight and say NO to guns now, the gun lobby will continue to push halfway measures that ensure death follows.

If you can stand by and do nothing and look at your children, then your heart is dead.

13. I value children over money,
but it is easy to see that our society and this government in particular money and the power it buys is what they love.

If we loved kids: no child would go to bed hungry, thirsty, or cold. Every child born would live to adulthood and attend school for free. Teachers would be paid like sports heroes and academic competitions would have the draw that sports competitions do.

14. So...
Either we let guns in schools or we get rid of guns.

There really is no other choice.
