I was hungry, you gave me hate, I was sick, you gave me lies.

Stand for Marriage Maine is exceptionally dependent on just two large
donors: ... NOM ... and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland (ME), from
which it has received $529,666.

-- Nate Silver analyzes Maine Proposition 1 Donations

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and
you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me
in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked
after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.

-- Matthew: 25: 35-36

jpmassar's diary :: :: Let me ask the Catholic Bishop of Portland, who daily says Mass to
celebrate Christ's sacrifice and preach his gospel:

•What part of this $529,666 goes towards feeding the poor?

•What part of this $529,666 goes towards clothing the naked?

•What part of this $529,666 goes towards helping the sick?

•What part of this $529,666 goes towards comforting prisoners?

Mr Bishop, sir, you could give hearty meals to 1000's of needy people
a year for $529,666.

Mr. Bishop, sir, you could provide a warm jacket to 1000's of homeless
people enduring New England winters for $529,666.

Mr. Bishop, sir, you could provide some level of medical care for
1000's of your fellow human beings across the globe (or just few in
the United States, because health care is more expensive than
anywhere else on the f**king planet, excuse my French, father).

But no. You pour more than half a million dollars into a
campaign that endgenders hatred instead of love, is promoted using
lies, and will do absolutely nothing to advance the Gospel of Jesus
Christ as related in the New Testament, which you claim to preach.

I don't know which side will win on November 3rd, but either way,
you and your Diocese will lose.

What a disgrace! The conservative Christians are nothing but perverted heretics. They spend ALL day and night thinking about sex and can't even perform their basic duties anymore.

1. They are always on the lookout for someone to persecute, always have, always will...
a religion built upon hatred and violence in the name of god, like many others.

2. All this hate
From one or two passages of an entire book of scripture.

Where are these people condemning corporate greed, environmental destruction, or war and empire?

3. LGBT is an easier target for them in spreading their hatred and persecution. Throughout ...
history they have held so dearly doling out persecution, punishment and threats. It's a way of life that they derive so much pleasure and satisfaction in watching others suffer, calling it serving god. Who needs hell when you've got the church.

7. But all that stuff is arguably rendering unto caesar.
We don't mess with caesar and he gets rid of what we consider the moral riffraff for us.

I wish that was sarcasm.

4. What a disgusting bunch
They should not be involved in political issues. They can keep their homophobia to themselves. The money that they spend on their hate campaigns could go so far in helping needy people. They throw all their money and energy into keeping gay marriage from being legalized while so many suffer greatly. I wonder what would happen if a homeless person went to one of these churchs in search of some food to eat.

6. The minute they delve into politics, their TAX-FREE status should GO
and that goes for ALL denominations..

That one loophole has allowed these charlatans to become rich, beyond all expectations, and it helped them proliferate their message of hate.

10. That's an idiotic approach to 501(c)(3)s: I've never volunteered for a nonprofit with no interest in
legislative issues

9. I'd bet a soup kitchen can feed somebody a good meal for $2-3 so $529,666
translates to something like 175000 - 250000 meals

12. Hated that powerful is awful.
It blinds them from seeing another human being.
