an issue which keeps all of us from getting good health care insurance.

No state politician will try to get his state to opt out without risking a realignment of the voters and possible loss of seat. The intent of the bill AND its language ("opt out") indicates to me that almost every state will, at least eventually, "opt in."

I'm delighted. This is the smart kind of politics that doesn't destroy one's enemy but invites the opposing side to participate when they see the bill is viable both in the hands of the lawmakers and in the eyes of the electorate.

1. It's The Right Thing For Now, And At The LEAST Gets The Public Option Into Reality.
With it being real instead of worst nightmare some fear mongers have successfully hyped it up to be; eventually (sooner than later I suppose) the opt out states would be forced by their constituents to opt in. Also, once the fear mongering is shown in reality to be just that, support will grow far larger for a more robust solution.

2. regardless of whether a state opts out or not, it's still shitty healthcare policy
but good insurance corporation protection.

I fail to see how transferring wealth to the insurance corporations is actually an improvement in general.
