From someone who has been married to my sweetheart for 28 years. For 15 years our marriage has been recognized by our faith community. For 5 years our marriage has been legally recognized - unfortunately only by Canada (and during brief trips to Massachusetts for medical treatment for our daughter). Unfortunately, I live in a state that refuses to recognize reality, and has expressly denied our daughter a legal relationship with both of her parents.

After so many kicks in the gut you'd think I'd be used to it - but each new referendum opens the wound, and the reaction on DU all too often grinds salt into it.

geez, I'm thinking of someone who's very ill right now. Her husband is running to the hospital constantly.... it's sad.

Yet I'm also thinking of the time I tried to explain to this same woman the wrongness of her conservative view by giving the example of gay partners barred from decisions regarding their hospitalized spouses. Her reply was simply, "Well that's what I believe and I just believe it. I'm not interested in thinking about it."

Obviously the most well-financed and active participants in keeping homosexual marriage

off the books and REVERSING gains for homosexuals is organized patriarchal religion.

Many don't know that the Mormon and RCC used tax-exempt dollars to campaign against the

Equal Rights Amendment -

And RCC is now using members to campaign against health care reform!!!

These organized patriarchal religions are based on discrimination -- RCC doesn't support

democracy/equality -- nor does it even acknowledge the full personhood of females as it

acknowledges the full personhood of males!
