Greg Mortenson was just on Andrea Mitchell's program talking with her about Afghanistan
I didn't know that he has a new book out now titled, "Stones into Schools: Promoting Peace with Books, Not Bombs, in Afghanistan and Pakistan". It was released December 1st.

It was interesting that during the conversation he pointed out, as he usually does, that his work is in no way affiliated with the U.S. government. I remember him saying some time ago that if he were to start accepting funding from the U.S. government, he would be finished in the region as the people would stop trusting him.

I strongly suggest his first book, "Three Cups of Tea" One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time. http://www.threecupsoftea.com/

1. He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize this year...
...and we all know what happened with that.

2. He certainly is a worthy nominee
I'm excited to read this next book. The first was so personal detailing the amazing way he got into his humanitarian work in the first place. I always hoped that it would at least be a film or mini series some day.

6. I couldn't find the segment on YouTube or the MSNBC-TV site
Hopefully it will show up later. But there are a number of videos of Mortenson on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=greg+mortenson&search_type=&aq=f

And here's a terrific video about a school built with help from the Central Asia Institute that Mortenson started. A nice companion for your reading. It's in two parts. Girls getting an education!

5. I thought she did
As you know, Mortenson doesn't appear to be an aggressive individual, although he must be persistent. But I thought she drew him out more than challenged his opinion.
