Ex-Mercenary Mann Fights Extradition From Zimbabwe To Equatorial Guinea

Former mercenary soldier Simon Mann, convicted by Zimbabwean authorities of arms violations related to his alleged plotting of a coup against the government of Equatorial Guinea in 2004, testified Friday on his own behalf in an extradition hearing.

It was the second day of the hearing at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, Harare.

Mann's lawyer, Jonathan Samkange, said his client “completely outwitted" lawyers for the state despite his poor health and the years he has spent in prison.

My main problem is that if there was a coup in EG, it's unlikely to make either the unequal distribution of weath or the caprice of the government any worse. Having the thug Mugabe and his government involved in any way just makes it appear worse.

Sometimes we defend the worst against the merely bad with vigor and force not often seen in defending the good against the worst.

Useless trivia: A relative of mine used to fly the leader of E. G. around the country's leader for a month at a time. The country would hire his entire flight crew, and they'd be surrounded with men w/automatic weapons for the month.
