Well if you were actually wondering at this point it is pretty damned clear
Your government, my government, OUR government is not as powerful as the corporations. The financial, self-created-juggernaut health insurance companies, pharmaceuticals, and of course agriculture though they wrapped up their racket with no public fanfare back in 2007 (thank you Sen. Harkin).

The central role of any government which is to be the source to defend the people from the otherwise organized (crime, business, other extensions of the same...) has been systematically destroyed and sabotaged over the last 40 years.

I lived through it and it was slow and painful to watch but clearly it was "effective" because they were so "on message" which is all that matters to get in what is left of print and on the box with the pretty people seeming to talk about important things.

Even the easy-to-write "Masters of the Universe" storyline has popped out of the post-collapse rubble to see what the outside world looks like

Just simply sad.

But I ain't giving up ;-)

2. Actually the people in Congress are susceptible to...
trying to assure their job security by selling their votes for campaign contributions. That is the crux of the problem. If they knew that they would be able to run without selling out to the corporations, this nation would be so much better in every way.

4. We can be powerful, if the President is on our side

Instead of the side of the monopoly corporations and the military industrial complex. We got fooled again.
