General Petraeus & the Magical Modest Success
Edited on Sun Apr-22-07 06:45 AM by SoCalDem
Washington Journal has all the "Bush supporters" in a tizzy again about how the "LibrulMedia" will not report the good things.. and they are sure this time, because Petraeus said it's "working"..

Petraeus is like any upper echelon military guy. he has accepted the task of "cleaning up", and he'll shove as much shit under that rug as it takes, so that it "looks" cleaner..

He'll parse any shred of the least positive news, just to make it appear to be working.

To do anythign less, means his career is OVER.. It's got to be painful to the military when they realize just how many generals and high-ranking people they have lost, because they chose to speak out and "retirement" was their only salvation. Did they all of a sudden, "lose their guts".? Nope. they were so frustrated with the shitstorm they had been handed, that they quit, rather than carry out a bogus war.

Petraeus just isn't quite there yet..

The koolaid drinkers are somehow convinced that everything's hunky-dory over there and if only the LIBRULMEDIA would report it, we would "win".

It's so sad to hear them every morning, reading off their scribbled notes..No doubt they are getting them from Rush & his ilk.

2. He contradicted himself right after he said that
"modest success" . . . but also has met with setbacks such as a rise in devastating suicide bombings and other problems that leave uncertain whether his counterinsurgency strategy ultimately will succeed.

Assessing the first two months of the U.S. and Iraqi plan to pacify the capital, mixed results are seen by senior American commanders - including Petraeus; Adm. William Fallon, head of U.S. forces in the Middle East; Lt. Gen. Raymond Odierno, commander of military operations in Iraq; and top regional commanders. They said while an increase in U.S. and Iraqi troops has improved security in Baghdad and Anbar province, attacks have risen sharply elsewhere.

3. and that's why they are building walls within Baghdad...
sadly, I believe this whole mess is going to end soon.

bush and his loyalists are treading water, and will continue to do so until it can be dumped into someone else's mess. once again, "duh-bya" leaves a mess for someone else to clean up

4. What do they expect an active duty general to say?
It's going to hell in a handbasket? He'll toe the official line until he retires, then join the ranks of the dissenters.

6. and even if he "fails", because he was willing to carry their water,
he will manage to survice the impending debacle.. The only realy losers are the footsoldiers on the ground, and the Iraqis.:(

5. It's simple
They BUILD A WALL, practice GENOCIDE, soon they'll have the contracts they need to STEAL THE OIL, and then dump it all into someone else's lap, while they SPEND that FREE MONEY they BILKED ALL OF US OUT OF...

Frog marched to the Hague is too good for the bunch of them.
