Remember how capitalism is supposed to work?
Competitive bidding & market pricing?

It's too damned bad that something truly innovative had not been tried..

Call it a national try-out or pilot-plan..

Supposedly there are about 5 big insurance companies all vying for our "business".

What if there had been a division of the states, north to south...into 5 parts, and numbered 1-5.. each company pulls a number from a hat, and they get to "serve" that area, for 2 years..

At the end of two years, the company that served the best, had the most satisfied customers, cut waste the most, had the best outcomes, etc, gets the contract for the new "group" policy for the whole country. They would then become a de facto utility...fully regulated, and subject to scrutiny by the government, but they would be THE entity serving the whole nation.

It's just competition..and supposedly that's a good thing..

Every 2 years they would be up for reinstatement, so if they started gouging people, the bidding would start over again..

The government has done these pilot programs for vouchers and for other things, so why not health care?

No one's thinking outside the box..
