Ridge: Alledged bombing suspect doesn't deserve "full range" of constitutional rights
So when these guys swear to defend the constitution against all enemies domestic and foriegn do they have any clue what that means?

(CNN) -- The man who allegedly lit an explosive on board a U.S.-bound international flight deserves none of the constitutional protections afforded American citizens, a former top Bush administration official said Monday.

Tom Ridge, who served as secretary of the Department of Homeland Security from 2003 to 2005, made the comments on CNN's "Larry King Live."

"I take a look at this individual who has been charged criminally, does that mean he gets his Miranda warnings? The only information we get is if he volunteers it?" Ridge said. "He's not a citizen of this country. He's a terrorist, and I don't think he deserves the full range of protections of our criminal justice system embodied in the Constitution of the United States."

Its an interesting question there Tom, so who else would you write out of the Constitution, an American citizen who murders someone?

He calls the guy the "alleged" bomber then tells us what he doesn't deserve.

Tom, you're a former prosecutor. Don't you believe the word "alleged" has actual meaning? It means the guy is not proved guilty of anything. It doesn't even mean he's charged. It means that someone says he did something but the facts have never been proved.

So, by saying he should not have his full rights, Tom, are you jumping the gun? Or ignoring the law? Or ready to violate the guy's rights?

Tell ya what, Tom. I dare say no one will argue that he did what they say he did. So let's just go there. Say what you think. But don't be transparently PC in using "alleged" when you know you don't mean it.

3. The bill of rights applies to both citizens and non-citizens.
Also, Joshua Micah Marshall points out that when Ridge was advising Bush on national security, the Shoe Bomber was tried in our normal court system.

4. As The Man Said, Sir: "Deserve's Got Nothin' Ta Do With It...."
We all have our little lists of people who do not deserve the rights our Constitution specifies for all persons.
