Bill Moyers to be Smeared Tonight.
Edited on Tue Apr-24-07 12:33 AM by hnmnf
Today on the O'Liely Craptor they smeared Soros, dems, and media organizations that he feels are being run by Soros (NBC) in one of his bullshit investigations. TOmorrow, he said he is going after Bill Moyers.

3. I'd love to see him try this on Moyers in person...
I'd lay odds on Bill vs. Billo for a K.O. by the former in two rounds.

"Shut up!", "Kill his mike!", and similar scholarly discourse being Billo's usual debating tactics when contradicted.

13. Yes they do.
Because when it comes down to it, they can wave red meat to the base and appeal to their vilest prejudices with Hillary and Obama.
Edwards...not so much. After what they have done to the justice department, crucifying attorneys really won't pack a very big hit anymore.
So hell yes they want Edwards gone.

8. Moyers apparently gets money from Soros, as well as Jonathon Alter (who is often on MSNBC)
or so says the Big Giant Head.

10. He smeared NBC? Boy, that's gratitude for ya. After all NBC did to get his hero, Bush, into office!
Welch’s successful behind-the-scenes campaign to influence media coverage in a way that would get Bush into the White House has not been visible to the public, with one exception. On election night, according to an eyewitness, Welch was so angry that his own NBC News team would not call the race for Bush that he personally went to the studio from which Tom Brokaw was anchoring the coverage. Welch quietly watched the broadcast for a few minutes. Two people who were present claim that, when Brokaw and Tim Russert did not take the hint that their boss had come into the newsroom because he wanted something from them, he explicitly announced that he wanted them to call the election for Bush.

They did. As a result, Bush entered the Florida recount phase with the tremendous advantage of having already been declared the winner.

- From an excellent article by David Podvin and Carolyn Kay describing the efforts of the CEO of NBC's parent company, General Electric, to use NBC News as a GOP propaganda vehicle in 2000:

'Devastating' Bill Moyers Probe of Press and Iraq Coming This Week

By Greg Mitchell

NEW YORK (Commentary) The most powerful indictment of the news media for falling down in its duties in the run-up to the war in Iraq will appear next Wednesday, a 90-minute PBS broadcast called "Buying the War," which marks the return of "Bill Moyers Journal." E&P was sent a preview DVD and a draft transcript for the program this week.

While much of the evidence of the media's role as cheerleaders for the war presented here is not new, it is skillfully assembled, with many fresh quotes from interviews (with the likes of Tim Russert and Walter Pincus) along with numerous embarrassing examples of past statements by journalists and pundits that proved grossly misleading or wrong. Several prominent media figures, prodded by Moyers, admit the media failed miserably, though few take personal responsibility.

The war continues today, now in its fifth year, with the death toll for Americans and Iraqis rising again -- yet Moyers points out, "the press has yet to come to terms with its role in enabling the Bush Administration to go to war on false pretenses."

Among the few heroes of this devastating film are reporters with the Knight Ridder/McClatchy bureau in D.C. Tragically late, Walter Isaacson, who headed CNN, observes, "The people at Knight Ridder were calling the colonels and the lieutenants and the people in the CIA and finding out, you know, that the intelligence is not very good. We should've all been doing that."

Yes, I would say we should be expecting to hear a LOT of Bill Moyers bashing, and not just from Bill O'Liely. We need to be ready with rebuttals!

Actually, upon reflection, the bashing could be ongoing for quite a while. The new season of Bill Moyers Journal will be every Friday night beginning this week. Thank Goodness!

12. I remember he tried to smear Moyers a few years ago
Moyers respond online:

http://www.current.org/news/news0222BillvBill.html

He wants Moyers on his show so O'reilly can gwet a bump in the ratings by arguing with Moyers.

They need to be ashamed of themselves. I guess if they had a conscience they would be.

15. Bill O'Reilly is once again stepping out of his league...
Bill Moyers deals in the business of truth... Bill O'Reilly has no recolection of this concept. BillO completely misses the irony of going after journalists supposively funded by Sorros when right leaning/major contributor Rupert Murdoch signs his paycheck - he is beyond pale. This smacks as an act of desperation to rally viewers rather than investigative journalism - but what do you expect when Fox has to search "Inside Edition" for "Journalists".

16. This could really backfire on BillO
He wasn't successful when he tried to go after him a few years ago. By going after him again it could show BillO's ignorance and also give more attention to Moyers as he begins this new report. He'll probably do Moyers a favor.
