If we can tear ourselves away from arguing with idiots about whether there were terrorist attacks
during the Bush administration and similar questions currently being breathlessly debated by the corporate media, maybe its time to draw up list of demands. And, "demamds" sort of implies an "or else" and we need to discuss that first.

The "or else" I have in mind is shutting down the corporate market place. It is not necessary, or wise, to be too specific about this. Suffice it to say that "business as usual" would not be possible. Now, as for those demands:

We want the Glass-Steagall Act re-imposed to separate investment houses from conventional banks.

We want a public option for health care that will gradually give way to a single-payer system like most of the industrialized nations now have.

We want it made clear, and legal, that corporations are not "persons" and do NOT enjoy the same Constitutional rights as flesh and blood people who can bleed, feel pain and die.

We want health care and education for all to be paid for by all.

We want to stop polluting our planet and we want to stop contributing to global climate change.

We want everyone to be free to love whoever they choose to love.

We want labor to be able to organize as they see fit to secure better wages and working conditions.

We want verifiable voting records, paper or otherwise.

We want the "Fairness Doctrine" re-imposed.

We want government of the people, by the people and for the people.

1. If there is any way to really get those demands, I'm all for it.
That's a wonderful list. :applause:

We also need to demand equal rights for women.

It is long past due for the rights of half our population to be guaranteed, beyond any chance of being held hostage by extremists and petty politics.

2. I always enjoy your posts, Atticus
Here's a link to my post, which discusses some ways we might force this kind of change.

To repeat something I just heard: "Power concedes nothing without a demand."

For us to make change happen, we must unite and take action that threatens the foundation of the system upon which Power relies upon to remain in power.

I've had my fill. My future that my children and my grandchildren will inherit is being destroyed in front of my eyes.

I'm no longer flexible or willing to debate the simple reality that only a fool expects to change a system from within that exists only to perpetuate itself.

3. I notice the most important one is last. Curious.

5. And so much more, hence it being the most important.
