Bernie seems a tad argumentative with Thom Hartman today....
Just heard him correct him a few times and its only the first half hour. I guess he may have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed. It happens to the best of us.

3. Bernie supported the Senate Health Care bill, which makes him wrong

here at DU of course. :eyes:

Nevermind that he's the best Senator in the Senate.

2. Maybe because Thom has been misrepresenting the health care bill
that's been annoying me.

say what you want, but get it right or get an argument. :grr:

Thom is not God, he's a guy with a radio show who brings on economists to talk about the dollar and then makes money advertising ripoff gold investments. If I think about this too much I can't listen to his show, but I still do quite frequently.

4. I have kind of gone off Thom recently, as well.
He is not God, and sometimes I wonder if he thinks he is.

7. So many callers start off by saying Thom's the smartest man they've ever heard.
Or smartest on radio or smartest in the world.

Thom shouldn't buy into that. He's bright enough, but he's not smarter than most of my friends, many here on DU, and most particularly, he's not smarter than Barack Obama, or Sheldon Whitehouse, or Sherrod Brown.

He starts off every argument against Obama with "What Obama doesn't understand . . . ." or "What Obama doesn't get . . . ."

Thom underestimated Obama every step of the campaign, and he doesn't know now what Obama does or does not understand.

Most especially, Hartmann doesn't know what Obama knows he can accomplish politically. Thom knows a lot about issues (even though his brain runs faster than his mouth and he makes lots of little mistakes in talking about them) but he knows just about nothing about politics and how to get things accomplished.

Building straw men and then throwing them like grenades into the discourse - as I believe Thom has done more and more recently - doesn't get a single thing accomplished.

I still subscribe to the podcast, but I find myself fast-forwarding through the tedious parts more and more often lately.

I wish Thom would stick to educating us about issues and hold back on the grand pronouncements of who and what is and who and what isn't a disaster.

He's very, very good at educating on the issues.

5. How is he misrepresenting it?
He seems spot on to me.

6. I didn't think so.
Bernie was just explaining why he's going along with it. Thom would prefer he didn't. It's a minor disagreement between two people who are mostly on the same page. Bernie has political reasons for caving in. Thom was getting him to explain why. There is nothing wrong with that.
