Let me say this up front.
I LOVE THIS FREAKING GUY, I REALLY DO.
My rep is Alan Grayson so I am one lucky SOB.
My admiration for him is only surpassed by...
That's right.
Al Franken.
Let me correct that...
Senator Al Franken.
He's driving them nuts, and that's why I love him.
He needs our help.
From our friends at Crooks and Liars which is just a great website and on the GMBMC top daily five.
http://crooksandliars.com/susie-madrak/sen-franken-asks-our-help-opposing-nbI'm so glad that Sen. Al Franken is standing up against this merger.
This is a bad move for democracy in so many ways, and he's pulling out all the stops to mobilize supporters.
He sent out this email yesterday:
You might have seen in the news, on Twitter, or on Facebook recently that I'm opposing the NBC/Comcast merger in its current form.
I wanted to write you today to explain why, and to ask for your help.
I have some experience in this industry, and I flat-out don't trust Comcast and NBC to operate in the best interest of consumers in Minnesota and around the country when it comes to this merger.
Combining a company who provides programming and one who provides the pipes that carry said programming would almost certainly be a raw deal for consumers and independent content producers alike.
(snip)
You won't get a heart if you donate but you could stop what we all hate.
Big media bending us over once again.
He's talking "pipes" and that's my business.
You have no idea what that means, so I'll tell you this...
It's all about who sends what over those "pipes" that are capable of carrying HUGE amounts of data, video, voice and images.
OC level "pipes" (optical carrier) that can transmit the Library of Congress and a million copies of "Avatar" in a heartbeat are what's at play here.
Take thy ass and send a few bucks.
THIS IS HUGH!!! I'M SERIES111111
