Documents prove Toyota concealed evidence, lawyer says
http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE61H5NS20100219?type=politicsNews

==LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A U.S. House panel on Thursday subpoenaed confidential company documents that a former Toyota lawyer has said prove the automaker routinely concealed evidence from the courts and federal regulators.

The subpoena was issued as part of an investigation by the House of Representatives Oversight Committee into Toyota Motor Corp's response to complaints of uncontrolled engine acceleration that led to a recall of more than 6 million vehicles in the United States.

Dimitrios Biller, who once headed a corporate legal team that defended Toyota in rollover-accident lawsuits, took some 6,000 internal documents with him when he left Toyota in 2007. He has since sued the automaker under U.S. racketeering laws, as well as for wrongful termination and emotional distress.

He has said that the four cartons of documents support his claims that the company systematically hid or destroyed evidence of safety problems that would have led to costly trials in the United States.==

1. How did he manage to carry those documents out with him?
I guess Toyota doesn't have very good security.

2. I'm curious to find out what he has.
He might of took them out over a period of years, since they obviously have been at this crap a long time.

When I worked for the japanese in the 80's, security was so lax it wasn't funny. I literally begged them to get a paper shredder, but they routinely threw out computer printouts and confidential documents including pricing which I observed the cleaning people packing into duffel bags one night when I was working late. I am POSITIVE they were selling the information to competitors. They copy EVERYTHING in ultra-quintlionzip so that everybody gets a copy.

Sometimes copies get lost in transport.......

5. And, yet, there are still people hurting the US economy buy
purchasing these foreign pieces of crap.

I covered as case when I was a reporter in which the seat belt on some small Japanese jobbie during a minor crash and left the girl, then 16, a quadrapalegic. I'll never own something that is dangerous, more expensive than my American car for the same class, and partially responsible for the decline of manufacturing in this country.
