2. Agree.
All this will do is strengthen financially and politically the very entities which got us to this place, in the first place. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

3. Not public option, Single Payer
Public Option is a con game designed to keep the insurance companies in the money.

12. You want single payer?
There's only one way it happens. We get rid of the Blue Dogs this fall, we replace the teabaggers who replace them with solid progressives who ride President Obama's election coattails into office in 2012, and we do single payer then, when more people are on our side, both in Congress and in the country as a whole.

For the record, I want single payer, too. This monstrosity masquerading as HCR is just a band aid on the gaping chest wound that is American medicine. It makes people think that something "needs time to work".

19. Why would I know your insurance problems/issues?

Rather than killing the bill for all its flaws, let's at least make it so that people who want the health clinics, expansion of medicaid and the guaranteed issue of insurance (along with subsidies).

If you don't want it, fine...why stop others from having it?

11. There won't be a public option
I wonder if the House will make the Senate go first on the "fix what's wrong with it" bill. My guess, they won't.

13. Mandates without a public option makes it worse than it is now.
This current bill is a sell out.

21. If you are proposing a robust public option, then what the house passed is not good enough
even if the Senate passes.

and if you dislike what insurance companies do to people, then the regulations, even without a public option are the only advancement in terms of nationwide regulation of those companies that is likely to be passed in this congress.

in other words, based on what you have said you care about, i believe your position actually contradicts what you are telling us here.

if we don't have a public option, we'll need this legislation that much more because we will still be saddled with a flawed private system that is minimally regulated. the legislation regulates and imposes nationwide standards on these companies. doing that is worthwhile even if you can't have a public option at the same time.
