More than 100 line up for free pet food

She joined more than 100 other people who lined up outside a storage facility here Saturday morning to accept free food for their pets.

It was the first pet food giveaway held by the Cincinnati Pet Food Pantry and less than a half hour after opening, the parking lot was packed at the Queen City Self-Storage Facility, 4775 Red Bank Expressway.

One after another, pet owners walked away with a bag of treats, a lint-roller and a two-week supply of food and/or litter for their dogs and cats. There was even food for gerbils, hamsters and rabbits.

"I think it says a lot about how many people are in need right now," said Shera Keeton. "It's amazing that the community has stepped up to help."
