2. Rec for those who haven't seen this yet
Parenti must be laughing a lot these days. He has lived to see most people agree that it is a Democracy for the Few.

I know people here will criticize the link you posted because of the source, bu tParenti is great.

Against Empire is a good starting point. http://www.michaelparenti.org/AgainstEmpire.html

Just don't expect the guy to have any patience for partisan, electoral politics. LOL.

7. Not when you consider all the new "centrists" here now
unreccing like mad no doubt. You should have been here in the good old days (don't you hate it when people say that?)

Thanks for posting Michael Parenti. Christian is good too, well worth seeking.

8. Not really
this guy isn't exactly a friend to the Democrats.

It's quite logical that people here don't want to hear it, not in the context of a pro-Dem discussion board

9. Well, he espouses views and values one would *think* the Dem party would largely embrace
... or strive to be representative of

Anymore, though, perhaps not. A lot of it boils down to the OP...which is to say, I'm not exactly popular here by any stretch of the imagination, so some will simply overlook anything I source after seeing my user name, even though they may very well actually agree w/many of Parenti's points.

10. Why would one 'think' that the Dem party would embrace
a writer/thinker who issues major challenges to the economic system the Dems promote/sustain? I mean, if you read Parenti and compare it to the Dem platform it's basically diametrically opposed.

Parenti's stood up to them on his own.

Chomsky somehow missed the boat regarding the assassinations.

22. Interesting way of looking at it
I was introduced to Chomsky's material via a friend of mine many yrs back, and found Parenti much later ... enjoy reading/listening to either, but yes, Parenti is - and Chomsky would likely admit as much - a more interesting speaker.

It should be required viewing for everyone on DU so they can be armed against the "free trade" proponents who visit here.
