bill as he watches the signing of this historic piece of legislation. Look at the spirit in that room as the President addresses the Dems and congrats them on their success. Unfortunately - Lipinski - can't share in the moment. He voted 'no'. And I know that the people in his district will remember that the next time he comes up for re-election.

2. he was a fool to vote No
I have no problem with dems that want to break with the party to advance an important piece of legislation for Americans.

But to break with your party against America's welfare is a foolish move and twice as foolish on Sunday !

3. He's In A Heavily Catholic District
This legacy got his gig handed to him by his old man and Richie Daley...he's not sweating many bullets on this one. His district is a heavily Polish Catholic area that is conservative and the Catholic church has a lot of sway.

4. If we had needed his vote he would have voted for it
The ones who didn't vote for it were those in seats that a yea vote could have caused us to lose that seat.

Haven't you figured this stuff out yet?

7. If Lipinski Is So Secure With The Daley Machine - Why Should He Worry If He Would Have Voted 'Yes' .
then? I live in his district. It was reported in the Chicago Sun-Times last Sunday that 57,500 people in his district are the number of uninsured individuals who would be extended coverage under this bill. In my mind he thumbed his nose up to those 57,500. He has no courage. The Catholic Hospital Association and the Catholic Nuns supported this bill. This would have given him cover with his Polish Catholic constituents. Sorry - I can't by the fact that he was worried about his conservative district so that's why he voted 'no'. Even with the Stupak last minute 'Executive Order' by the President - he still voted 'no'. Sorry - in my mind he is not a Dem. He didn't support his party, his President nor the people that gave this administration the mandate to push for this healthcare bill. He's elected to represent the people - not to make sure that he has a cushy job in D.C.

8. But what you seem to forget is that his vote was meaningless after they had enough
Why just make it more difficult and expensive to hold onto his seat next election?

That money can be used elsewhere.

After we had the votes needed to pass the bill his only JOB was to hold his seat without costing us a lot of money. Thats the way I look at it.
