Not to belittle the effect(s) if the oil spill, but think about our air

As I've watched the news of the terrible oil spill in the Gulf I can't help but compare it in my mind to the destruction we bring on our own air. The well is belching 5,000 barrels of oil a day, we burn 12,000,000 barrels of oil in the form of transportation fuel every single day of every single month and we've been doing it for years. And as obscene as that level of pollution is it sits right there with the vile filth we dump in the to the air every day from the burning of coal (about 3,000,000 tons per day) in the process of generating electricity.

with this oil spill. It seems like one of the biggest catastrophes of all time. Of course, the next one will eclipse this one and so on, until they have killed the whole world.
