3. I wonder...
2010 is going to be an interesting midterm, especially in the state of Florida. Is it possible for the outrage over immigration laws enacted by loonies in Arizona to spread to the large Cuban population in Florida? And if so, what stance will Rubio take? I know his teabagging brethren LOVE the idea, but he's in a absolute HORRIBLE position on this particular issue. If he starts to cater to the extreme right of his party, I feel much of the Cuban population will leave and vote for Crist or Meek. If he stays on the fence (which seems to be his position now) he sets himself up as being too weak for the teabaggers and ultra-cons.

Meek should start talking immigration NOW! Set aside any doubt of where he stands and let the Latino population know that he has their best interests in mind.

4. Welcome to DU, oh08dem.
I agree with you about Meek, and do recall Rubio being outraged over AZ's immigration laws, just like his mentor Jeb Bush. Rubio being Hispanic should make it a no-brainer. And I also wonder how the Cuban community will react. This is one to watch. I've also read Crist is now leading the pack since he went indy; of course, that could have changed since last night!

5. Thank-you
I really hope Meek can get a victory there. The Democrats might lose some seats in the House and Senate, but if Meek could somehow manage to slide in under the mudslinging that's about to go down between Rubio and Crist it will overshadow any momentum the Rethugs may have gained. They're setting him up as their crown jewel in this election on the Senate side and with Crist entering the race as a third party canidate it only draws more media attention and money from the RNC, and other Republican donors.

It would be funny seeing their investment in him being flushed down the drain, and Meek stealing one from under their noses.

6. There really aren't that many
Shrub was attractive to some, because he bothered to learn how to speak Spanish, and was in favor of immigration reforms that the vast majority of GOP'ers never supported. If you look at the last election, and all the Resmug posturing that brown people (Latinos) would never vote for an African-American, you'll see that the vast majority did vote for President Obama.

I think the Rethugs simply looked at that fact, and figured there was more to going with fear than with hope.
