Rule 1 of an Administration: Conduct yourself such that I never have to agree with Peter King

I do not like Peter King (R-NY) and prefer to not agree with him.

But I couldn't fault his comments on Morning Joke today because, despite his malign political motivation, it was just stating the obvious. (Which I have been saying long before knowing or caring whether King would agree with me.)

It was really bad to leak details of the identity of the NY bomb suspect (seemingly timed to make the evening news) when the guy was not in custody yet.

Realizing he was as good as caught how did we know he wouldn't he do a big murder-suicide at the next gas station he saw? It's what the (comparable) Glasgow bozos would have done.

(For intelligence purposes we wouldn't even want the guy to commit solitary suicide with the gun we knew he had.)

Instead he slipped his surveillance, ran for the airport and almost made it into the air.

Say the plane got the word to turn around. Maybe he pops the emergency exit. Maybe a lot of things.

Having spent most of a decade railing against the Bush administration for endangering people for PR purposes I am not inclined to discover a new double-standard here.

It was a bad leak and no accident, since multiple news outlets got it almost simultaneously. I was an intentional disclosure. That doesn't mean it was authorized at the highest levels.

Was it from the WH? From Justice? From the NYPD? I don't know. But everyone associated with that leak ought to be fired immediately.

1. Couldn't agree more with your OP. I shall now don my tinfoil hat and

speculate a little. The right is so itching to be able to go into this upcoming election season with an "Dems can't keep us safe" or something of that nature. So far the Obama admin. has thwarted many terroristic attempts so that sound byte just doesn't work. I'm speculating that perhaps this was a set-up. This guy did everything wrong from the git-go, and had it been successful this would be the meme from every pubbie running for office. Okay, taking tinfoil off now, but it's a thought.
