Microsoft Office 2010 takes aim at Google Docs (BBC)
Microsoft is preparing to launch its latest weapon in its ongoing battle with Google.

The software giant will launch its flagship product Office 2010 to businesses on 12 May.

The latest version of the software has a free online component - called Office Web Apps.

Analysts believe the web offering is a response to Google, which has been encroaching on Microsoft's core business with its free online tools.

The software for PCs and phones will be launched at an event in New York on 12 May. Business customers will be able to use it straight away, whilst home users will have to wait until June to buy the full version.

1. Redefined crap is still crap.
I'm running 2010 beta, and it looks like crap. 2007 is probably crappy but better than 2010.

3. 2010 is crappier than 2007?
Forced to go to 2007 8+ months ago at work (from 2003). Sucks balls.

IT keeps telling us how great it is. Always wondered where all the propaganda writers went after the Soviet Union fell.

4. I really am not keen on using an online product, whether google
of microsoft... At least if something goes wrong on my laptop, I would have had at least some of the work saved... I also don't necessarily like the security issues that comes with working on open software online.
