Ugly Truth About the American Cancer Society
American Cancer Society argues new findings, that dangers from environmental toxins are greatly underestimated.

Images from various sources including earthfirst.com.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The jig is up on the real danger of contracting cancer from environmental contamination; it is as real as the struggle of every servicemember in the nation who has fought this deadly affliction. The same as every mother, father, son and daughter.

I am not a doctor, nothing close. However, I am a news reporter who happens to keep company with some fantastic physicians and scientists who know a great deal about this. In recent years, along with a team of experts and cancer survivors, I have studied the effects of various carcinogenic toxins and their relationship to cancer. I was a Marine at a base in California, the now-closed El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, which is an environmental monster; an EPA Superfund site - that has contributed to the deaths and illnesses of more Marines than we can, as of yet, adequately tabulate.

Those who had to live with chemicals known as TCE (trichloroethylene) and PCE (perchloroethylene), benzene and other toxins, as we Marines did, do not question whether cancer is caused by deadly particulate matter that is contacted through both air and water. We have seen and known personally, too many of the often deadly results.

Semper fi brothers, you are not forgotten.

So now President Carter convenes a panel that finally, once and for all, states that this is the case; environmental hazards cause cancer, and I have a feeling reaching this conclusion wasn't rocket science.

Follow the Money Trail

Who stands to lose? How could a group stand to lose? Here is the dirty secret of the big cancer groups; they receive funding from the polluters who are kind enough to wreck our environment and make it dangerous in the first place. They hide behind "positions" that state

3. The Susan G. Komen Foundation does not hire breast cancer survivors, either.
Found that out on the web.

My mother survived breast cancer and a radical mastectomy. They couldn't take the ornery out of her and she made it another 23 years.

23. Thank you.
A heart attack got her eventually, but she certainly enjoyed those 23 years.

8. The truth is coming out about The U.S. Humane Society also.
I have been donating to them for ages, but will do a little more research on both of these before I donate again. I have just about decided that if they ever come up with a cure for ANYTHING I will start donating again, but I just get the feeling we're paying a lot of money for them to look and it doesn't pay for them to find a cure.

9. Devra Davis outs the bastards in her book
The Secret War on Cancer.

American Cancer Society, the AMA and many others have been in the pockets of the polluters for years. They make money when WE get sick. They have no plans of curing anything - or preventing anything. That would cut off their cash flow.

14. having studied pesticides and their mode of action
most scientists know this. Ask most of the older organic farmers what they were before they became farmers- many were scientists who decided to try to do something about the toxins, at least in their own personal life.

15. I hold them responsible
for the ignorance in this country about safer handling of toxic chemicals. They are always out front to denigrate studies showing health effect from chemical exposures. Same with the state poison control boards and call centers.

People regard chemical safety practices as unnecessary or something paranoid people do
That is why people put their toddlers in the same cart as a bag of weed & feed.
That is why idiots had a manicure facility in a baby ins tensive care ward at a hospital.
That is why manicurists think a dust mask will protect them from neurologically toxic fumes.
This is why people drown their grass in toxic chemicals and douse their neighbors as well.
and on and on...

17. land that you live on?
We built in florida but made sure it was virgin land, many people build on old orange groves and with having a well I knew the soil had been treated for years with crap. I look at former farm land that is now house after house, that ground is poisoned from years and years of pesticides and fertilizers. I know people that live in Michigan where DOW owns everything and employees 90% of the people. The cancer rate there is wild.

21. live among retireds
who still believe in the magic of 2,4-D and malathion. One neighbor doubles up on the property line to try to kill stuff in my yard. The air is full of the stuff which he applies one after another - something that magnifies the toxic effect. His wife already has breast cancer.
Have tried many venues to solve the problem but agencies and departments are intentionally built to NOT do anything about such things.
idiocy.

20. The World Health Organization's latest study found that,
while more people are quitting smoking, even more people are getting lung cancer. The W.H.O. attributed it to pollution (along with lifestyle and eating habits).

But, here in the land of the "free unless we don't like your particular habit" this news has yet to make headlines.

No one is saying smoking is great for you. What people - from the average Joe to Dr. Joseph - are beginning to say is that smoking does not cause all ills that befall humans.
