MarSOC Marine found dead at Lejeune

A Marine assigned to Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command was found dead Monday afternoon near the intersection of Cross Street and McHugh Boulevard aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C.

It’s not clear if the Marine was driving at the time of the incident, if he was alone or how he died. It’s also not clear if the Marine was an operator or support personnel, or if he had completed any combat deployments. Marine officials declined to release any additional information, including his rank, until the next of kin was notified.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating the incident.
