Wash. lawmakers slam EADS over tanker bid

Lawmakers from Washington state have slammed EADS’ entry into the Pentagon’s $35 billion KC-X tanker competition as unfair to U.S. workers due to European Union subsidies.

Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., led the charge during a news conference Tuesday on Capitol Hill.

Boeing, which has a large presence in Seattle, will be “competing against the treasuries of European governments,” she said.

Murray called for the Defense Department to factor in a recent World Trade Organization ruling that found EADS used unfair subsidies to launch its A330 production line.

Pentagon officials have repeatedly said they will not take the ruling into account.

1. Boeing feels as though they're entitled to this contract
despite having attempted to rip off the treasury on a corrupt lease deal that landed two of their executives in prison.

Of course, the real concern is having competition on American soil if EADS were to build their proposed facilities....

2. EADS teamed up with Northrop Grumman, so they
do have manufacturing facilities in the US. And Northrop Grumman is a full-fledged member of the M-I-C.
