$11.67

My first paycheck from the Census Bureau.

Gotta give credit where it's due. Obama has lowered taxes. Suck it up teabaggers, your tax protests are completely unwarranted. $11.67 and it was a pretty fat paycheck. For roads and schools, I'm down with that, heck I'd be willing to pay a little more if it was going to good social programs.

1. "Obama has lowered taxes"
Yeah, and I don't see that as a good thing. Everyone should at least be paying a little more, and some should be paying a whole lot more.

It makes sane fiscal sense right now to increase taxes and cut defense spending.

2. Just got my first paycheck from the Census Bureau.
Actually, it was direct deposit. $112.79. I'm a rich woman!

Do they send some kind of check stub that will tell me what the gross was and the taxes and all that? Of course, I can ask when I get to work this afternoon.

3. Good for you and arcadian!
I saw my first census worker yesterday. She was interviewing a guy on one of the walkways at the apartment building where I live, and he was giving her a (mildly) hard time (complaining, "What kind of question is that?").

As I passed them, I asked if she was from the Census Bureau. She said she was, and the guy started going on about how he'd been trying to avoid her, but she ambushed him on the walkway. I said that I'd mailed my form in right away, and if they needed any more information they could come by and see me any time.

I started to go, but couldn't resist asking, "That's in the Constitution, isn't it?" The census worker shot me a big smile. "Yes. Yes, it is," she said. She seemed glad to have a little bit of moral support.

5. I am a census bureau employee;
although, not an enumerator. I am paid by direct deposit every two weeks unlike you enumerators who are paid weekly. My direct deposit is on the second Monday and “stub” arrives in the mail by Thursday. We are paid out of the National Finance Center in NOLA. Hope this helps
