1. Does anyone have an insight to share about why this is happening in China? Are the
older people resenting the kids getting an education or...? I really don't understand why children are being targeted. But then again, I know pretty much zero about Chinese culture or current events there, so maybe that's why I have no clue as to why this is going on.

3. I do not know..
Because China is such a mystery to us, I do not know if this has been something they have been dealing with for years and years, or a recent phenom.

4. Perhaps its not all that different than some
cases here where there has been random murder in schools. I think mental illness is a strong possibility.

7. Lack of a mental health system. Huge economic disparities. No legal way to petition for change.
The unstable repressed fringe has found a way to let off steam. After the last attack, I heard it mentioned that the victims in these attacks are nearly always the children of the new (mostly Han) middle class, who are widely blamed for the ills of the Chinese poor. When poor people with severe mental issues go looking for people to blame for their situation, and then people to target for revenge, these kids become obvious targets.
