Maine teabagger GOP steals labor movement history poster from social studies classroom
Everybody has probably heard by now that the Maine GOP has adopted a teabagger platform; it's been discussed previous times on this forum. During this process, the GOP did its caucusing at a Portland school. The Knox County delegation, the one that proposed the wackjob teabag platform, was given a social studies classroom that had a poster in it about the American labor movement. The teacher came back to his room afterward only to find his poster gone and a "Working People Vote Republican" sticker in its place.

The school has received complaints from Republicans about the free discussion of ideas.

Late Friday afternoon, as Maine's Republican State Convention fanned out from the Portland Expo to county caucuses at nearby King Middle School, GOP loyalists from Knox County found themselves directed to Classroom 110 – the domain of eighth-grade social studies teacher Paul Clifford.
...
When he went home for the weekend on Friday, one of Clifford's most prized teaching tools – a collage-type poster depicting the history of the U.S. labor movement – was affixed to his classroom door. Clifford uses it each year to teach his students how to incorporate collages into their annual project on Norman Rockwell's historic "Four Freedoms" illustrations.

The poster includes this quote from the labor organizer and one-time presidential candidate Eugene V. Debs: "Intelligent discontent is the mainspring of civilization. Progress is born of agitation. It is agitation or stagnation."
...
Details are sketchy – as they often can be when political passion gives way to apparent criminal activity. But this much we know: When Clifford returned to school Monday morning, his cherished labor poster was gone.

17. It isn't. They want to write the textbooks to where everything comes up red roses and blue skies.
Little people don't count. There's six billion of them already on the planet.

2. All the people that were in that room should be brought in for questioning
It is theft, pure and simple. Anyone taking it or knowledge of said poster should be arrested and charged. No Miranda rights. The time to treat these people with kid gloves and talking to them is over, it is time to challenge them, time to make them prove their ideas and their actions.

8. And if they
don't talk we should Tea Board them! Personally I find this type of behavior disgusting. The BOE should contact the group and demand the return of stolen teaching tools and the purps should be made to remove the sticker they left and clean off any residual glue with their tongues.

13. I believe that is the standard republican position
if I understand correctly from them it is okay to use any means possible to get the facts.

That is not my belief when it comes to torture. But if it their position who am I to argue with them.

4. Teabaggers hate liberty and the freedom to join unions. They also hate education.

Educated minds are free minds.

Teabag minds are obedient minds. Obedient to their overlords.

edit:recced

also, I wrote an OP that kinda touches on this OP's topic.

5. Repugs resent "free discussion of ideas"
That is their biggest problem. That is why trying to run a country based on 'ideology' instead of 'reality' always fails.

7. And the teabaggers wonder why we hate them so
Let's all go to their place of work and steal their stuff. Maybe then they'll get it.

9. They probably took it home to study it, not a single Teabagger knew
anything on the poster - to be burned later with a few choice books no doubt.

11. I went back and reread the article
Within the article the chairman of the county party billy chapman states that the room was also anti-religion. From that I will assume that he is for religion. I wonder deeply what religion he believes in that it is okay to steal things. Better watch out for that religion. He is responsible so I would tell him to return the poster and the person that took it so they can be jailed or pay the teacher $250,000 for stealing it. Sounds fair to me.
