Former state GOP chair Kris Kobach is the author of the anti immigrant bill in Arizona. He is also running for Sec of State. His track record certainly doesn't reflect competence.
A long-awaited federal audit of the Kansas Republican Party is out, and its findings are about what was forecast in January:
Party finances were a mess in 2007 and 2008.
Those were the years that Kris Kobach was the state GOP chair. Kobach, a UMKC law prof, is running for secretary of state.
The audit, as reported by the Capital-Journal of Topeka, found:
* A nearly bankrupt state party when Kobach and former executive director Christian Morgan stepped down.
* $18,000 in federal payroll taxes for office employees left unpaid in 2008.
* Grossly inaccurate FEC reports.
* A co-mingling of state and federal campaign money, which is illegal.
Kobach and Moran, meanwhile, are blaming each other.
