US Progressives: Time to Make Obama Uncomfortable
http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2010/06/07-9

by John Whitesides
WASHINGTON -- Nineteen months after celebrating President Barack Obama's historic election win, disappointed liberal activists promised on Monday to turn up the political heat on a White House they said is too quick to compromise.

At an annual conference of grassroots progressives, they said the euphoria and high expectations after Obama's victory had lulled them into a false sense of security, and hopes for his success had sometimes limited their criticism.

That has changed, they said, because of what they called Obama's go-easy approach on Wall Street, ineffectual efforts to reduce high unemployment, watered-down healthcare and financial regulation reforms and escalation of the Afghanistan war.

1. Mr. Obama is an exponent of
Third Way ideology.
Go-easy approach to Wall Street
ineffecutal efforts against unemployment
watered down healthcare
ineffectual financial reforms
escalation of the Afghan War

What were you expecting?
A Third Way practitioner will incentivize you, and then expect you to forget about all the racial, class and foreign policy conflicts and issues confronting our country.
Prove him wrong.
We have commitments in 170 countries around the world.
There is no indication that the Obama Admin and Congress will consider and re-shape our foreign policy to be less commitment ridden and costly.
The interest of the worker is not the same as the investor and owner. To believe otherwise is a blind form of corporatism.
The Third Way faction is trying to impose European solutions to our problems without giving the public any meaningful social protections.
Europe moves forward.
America looks back. It looks back because the government has decided to serve corporations instead of people.

8. The time to fight the good fight is always RIGH NOW.
What, you think we should all sit on our hands in the face of ongoing injustice just because a Dem is in the White House?

Ain't gonna happen.
