Hunger strikes... until this Oil Spill is contained...
You know what you never see anymore? Hunger Strikes. They seemed fairly effective in politics and media.
We should organize a hunger strike (especially in LA coastal towns) that doesn't stop until the oil does.

eh??

1. You don't see them because they aren't very effective
Cindy Sheehan tried it a few years back.

2. And I hope you do not mind not eating for months
on end... this will take all the way until the relief well is drilled... and the best, sunny scenario, is August. I am a little less sunny... from experience with OTHER wells, no not personal... at least November.

My heart aches for them too... by the way.

3. How does having people getting sick or dying help the stop the oil or clean it up?

4. Perhaps pictures such as those posted...
would make an affective headline: BP has given the population of the Gulf a new form of hunger strike--the one not by choice.

5. That would be silly
That assumes BP can shut the oil off anytime it chooses.

They may have scrimped on safety, they may have lied about the volume of oil leaking and they may not have the ideas about how to effectively end the spill while pretending to be the technical experts.

The only thing a hunder strike will result in is malnourished protesters and dirty beaches.
