And here they come---Tropical disturbance brews in the Atlantic near Africa
Two weeks into the hurricane season and what could be the first named storm of the year is brewing in the central Atlantic Ocean -- maybe.

The National Hurricane Center gives the "broad area of low pressure" a 60 percent chance of turning into something worth worrying about over the next 48 hours.

"It's a disturbance. There's nothing more to it than that," said hurricane center spokesman Dennis Feltgen. "We get a lot of these throughout hurricane season."

1. It's a disturbance.... nothing more to it.
Not much urgency in Mr. Feltgens comment.

He's treating it like BP is treating the gusher-
Me- I'd worry a bit more-

2. Here's the interesting part from Jeff Masters at wunderground.com.
However, sea surface temperatures (SSTs) underneath 92L are an extremely high 28 - 30°C, which is warmer than the temperatures reached during the peak of hurricane season last year, in August - September. In fact, with summer not even here, and three more months of heating remaining until we reach peak SSTs in the Atlantic, ocean temperatures across the entire Caribbean and waters between Africa and the Lesser Antilles are about the same as they were during the peak week for water temperatures in 2009 (mid-September.) While 92L will cross over a 1°C cooler patch of water on Monday, the storm will encounter very warm SSTs of 28-29°C again by Tuesday.

3. CBS reported earlier today that there's a second area
of disturbance forming behind this one.
