"Former eBay executive Meg Whitman has funneled another $20 million of her personal wealth into her gubernatorial bid.
The latest influx of cash means the California Republican has already invested over $90 million of her own money–and the general election is just getting started.
Last Tuesday, Whitman and former Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown secured their party’s nominations to face off this November.
The San Jose Mercury News reports that Whitman spent about $56 per vote in the primary election.
Whitman has said she is willing to invest as much as $150 million of her own money into the campaign, meaning Brown will be heavily out-spent in this race. So far, he has spent just $400,000 and has over $20 million on hand for the general election battle."
