"For those who argue that for the United States Congress to engage in a bipartisan debate about our constitution and our policy is somehow 'emboldening' the enemy, or undercutting our troups. They are wrong.
"This debate is evidence about what a democracy is all about.
"The president wants to send 21,000 more soldiers into Iraq and this morning's Washington Post tells us they will go into battle without the equipment they need. They will not have the body armor. They will not have the vehicles. They will not have the equipment they need to go into battle.
Now WHO is standing behind the troups when it comes to escalating this war in Iraq? Those who question whether this is the right policy in the right place or those who send 21,000 more into battle and risk their lives without giving the rest that they need, the time with their families, the equiment and training that they need to come home safely?"
