Limited wind power will be available in North Dakota
Grand Forks AFB has worries about wind power
The Associated Press

GRAND FORKS, N.D. — The Air Force and officials at the University of North Dakota's aviation school are concerned about possible wind power development in the region.

Wind towers can interfere with radar. The Grand Forks Air Force Base expects to host increasing numbers of drone aircraft. UND is starting a drone training program at the base, and aviation students fly out of the Grand Forks city airport.

North Dakota's Public Service Commission held a meeting in Grand Forks on Wednesday to talk about the safety concerns. Commissioner Tony Clark says the agency will push a new law to regulate wind farms near airports and the state's two Air Force bases.

Residents near the Grand Forks air base say it's good for wind development, and they're unhappy about possible restrictions.

1. We're never going to get in on alternatives
N. Dakota is one of the windier states in the Union, and due to lack of population, perfect for setting up some major wind. But noooooo, we can't possibly interfere with the drones.

Tell the goddamn drones to take a hike, we need N. Dakota to become the muscle in our wind program.
