FSTV on Direct TV
I was really excited when I read on DU that FSTV would be coming to Direct TV. I kept trying to find it on the channel it was supposed to be on, but never could get it. Finally I wrote to Direct TV and the following is my response from them:

---------------------------------------------------------------Response: Thanks for writing. I completely understand your concern about Free Speech TV. FS TV features news, documentaries, call-in shows and lectures that address social, political and economic justice issues. Programming include The Thom Hartmann Program, Democracy Now!, GRITtv with Laura Flanders, Gay USA and Keynote. Please know that you will need HD Access and MPEG-4 equipment to see this channel. Upon careful review, I have verified that HD Access isn't active on your account. Aside from getting FS TV, once you have HD equipment, to get our newest HD channels, you'll need to make sure that you have our HD Access package. HD Access allows you to get the HD versions of any channel in your programming package that is simulcast in HD. For example, if you subscribe to our CHOICE base package and HD Access, you'll get the HD versions of favorites like A&E, Animal Planet, ESPN and more. HD Access can be added to most packages for only $10.00 per month. To see the full lineup of HD programming visit our website at directv.com/hd and click on the HD Programming tab.
........................

WEll, so much for that. I'm already spending about $85 per month for Direct TV and don't want to spend any more. I'll just keep reading DU and watching Big Ed, Keith, and Rachel. I find it amazing that Fox News is on the most basic of packages but to get MSNBC one has to purchase a more expensive package. And now to see FSTV on Direct TV, one has to purchase an even more expensive package. No wonder there are so many people who believe so many right wing lies...they have easy acess to the propaganda channel.

1. Get HD .....
It makes watching the boxing matches on ESPN, HBO, Showtime, and PPV more like being ringside.

4. Thank you for this info.
I'm going to look into it and will also look into Dish Network. We have been with Direct TV since 1996. Guess I'll call the customer retention office to see what Direct can do for me. They offer more for new customers than for their loyal longtime subscribers.
