What sort of cognitive dissonance is this - advertising you are helping people by spending money that could be helping people??? We are truly in bizarro world....

1. What if a dollar in advertising brings in 1.50 in income?
Then instead of spending 1.00 to help people, they now have 1.50 to help people.

Isn't that the whole point of advertising, to make a profit? Now, will it be effective, I don't know, but the reasonable people advertise is because it is a good way to increase revenue, and if BP can increase revenue, in order to have more to spend on cleanup/ reimbursing people, then I'm fine with that.

3. I guess I am looking at it from my own POV. I loathe ads and assume they are lies.
Working for Pharma as a career, watching them pissing money away on ads while gouging people on drug prices....most ads make false claims. We have the mute button next to us and mute all ads...and stopped going to the movies because they started showing ads prior the movie.

2. They'd rather be buying themselves gentler treatment on the cable news networks.
It's not about reality; it's all about the public's perception of reality.
