Oscar Grant Shooting - Media Ignoring ANOTHER Case of Police Brutality?
There is something I always know will happen when a case like Oscar Grant's comes up every 2-3 years...it will be virtually ignored by the media. To me, it's amazing the guy even got involuntary manslaughter...but that's only because the videos surfaced. If the police had gotten their way, the vids would have gone unknown and the officer would have gotten off completely. Cases dealing with police brutality are being reported more and more every year. When will people stop sweeping this under the rug and acknowledge that there's a war going on against certain groups in America by a militarized police force?

4. The media and most of society only acknowledged that it happened at all
once cheap video cameras built into everything hit the mainstream. That and the cops got a little too carried away and started shooting people that weren't poor.

6. And will anyone be brave enough to talk about the fact that so many officers have been to war
and how that's impacting the mentality and level of brutality among police forces.

7. Violence is the American way
And war is a force that gives us meaning. The more violence, the more better for certain movers and shakers in our society, and so for the rest of my life (and most likely the rest of yours), we'll be treated to polemics about how the first and best solution to any problem is the application of violence.

It will be dressed up in palatable accoutrements like "Second Amendment Rights" and so forth, but it will always, always come down to the efficacy of violence in driving out violence. It's a nonsense argument, and requires a great deal of dressing up, but we have become so inured to it that the aforementioned movers and shakers barely need to work at it; their victims go to their graves chanting the slogans their oppressors promulgate. How could it be any better for the purveyors of violence?
