Progressive Programs on MSNBC are in Danger. Comcast is Probably Going to Take it Over and Scarborough Got Markos Banned.

JOE SCARBOROUGH

Don't forget that Joe Scarborough -- who half the time appears bored with his own prorgam "Morning Joe -- is on MSNBC, and he ain't no liberal; he was a conservative congressman from the Pensacola area before retiring, claiming that he wanted to spend time with his children. Except, true to Republcian hypocrisy, he was divorced and got remarried -- Gingrich style -- to a Republican committee staffer just a few months after announcing he was resigning to spend more time with his children

Oh yeah, and something else odd happened after the announcement of his resignation in 2001, an aide in Florida, Lori Klausutis, died under rather unusual circumstances in Scarborough's Fort Walton Beach home district office. The story was that she fainted, her head hit a desk and she died as a result. No one found her until the next day. She was married and neither her husband nor family would talk to the press. There were many rumors that swirled around considering the circumstances -- Scarborough was divorced, he had just resigned "for the family's sake," the alleged cause of death appeared to be a one in a million shot, there were rumors that Scarborous was having an affair with Klausutis, and so on.

1. All they care about is ratings = advertising revenue, and I THINK
some of the progressive shows have been doing very well, haven't they? Didn't Ed say he'd beat out Fox in that time slot?

If I'm correct and they are doing well, Comcast wouldn't mess with the moneymakers.

4. You are wrong about ratings.

What these über corporations want is results. Political outcome results. If they have to invest (at a loss) in monopolies that are propaganda outlets that serve a political function that yields GREAT rewards (read: buying politicians, creating political climates that enable them, and then getting corporate tax cuts and favorable FCC rulings for more monopolization) that result in 1,000 times ROI then it is worth the investment.

MSNBC shit canned Phil Donahue while his show had the #1 rating for the time slot and the entire network. ABC shit canned Bill Maher.

Same goes for US radio.

We are under the thumbs of monopolistic economic powers.

8. MSNBC makes plenty of money
Comcast has been trying to acquire a controlling stake in NBC-Universal since last year. It still has to be approved by the FCC, and maybe the SEC.
