Senator McCaskill:

Today Republican Sen. Lamar Alexander and Democratic Sen. Pat Leahy attempted to move forward on a floor vote for Jane Branstetter Stranch, a nominee to the 6th US Circuit Court of Appeals. Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell objected seeking more time to consider her nomination even though her nomination has been approved out of committee on a bipartisan basis for 8 months and 1 day. Incredibly, after all this time and the events of today, Senator Reid has not filed for cloture.

This is my 23rd correspondence with you regarding this matter. I have pledged to write to you and Senator Reid each weekday until this nominee receives an up or down vote. I would appreciate your assistance and hope you will urge your colleagues to act and avoid any further damage to our system of justice.

Sincerely,

(snip)

cc: Senator Reid
