Woman gets flat tire, cop gives her a ticket for it
OUTRAGE: Residents Call For Job Of 'Coffee Cop'
Queens Residents Demand Traffic Agent Daniel Chu Be Fired After Mounting Complaints

The traffic agent accused of terrorizing Queens residents is the source of more outrage.

CBS 2 first told you about Agent Daniel Chu, who was ordered to undergo sensitivity training for badgering drivers. Now, there's a new complaint that has some calling for his job.

There are some things you just can't change, and too-big-for-his-britches Traffic Agent Daniel Chu appears to be one of them.

.....

Tammy Fox is Agent Chu's latest victim. She was in the dirt near Elmhurst Hospital, trying to fix her flat tire, when Agent Chu sauntered up. Instead of offering help, like most New Yorkers would, he slapped her with a ticket.

"I said to him, 'are you kidding me? You're very insensitive. I'm going to visit my friend in the hospital who had cancer, and I'm trying to fix my flat tire, and you're standing here writing me a ticket?'" Fox said.

....

Halloran caught Agent Chu breaking enough traffic laws to lose his license – speeding, going through stop signs, using flashing lights, talking on a cell phone – just to get a cup of coffee. Halloran then received hundreds of complaints from constituents about Agent Chu, who even reportedly slapped tickets on members of a funeral procession.

10. No he doesn't, he's a sociopath
Many sociopaths are drawn to professions where they can control people. Read "The Sociopath Next Door."

23. It's not considered a mental health issue
I always "correct" people when I read this, just because there's so much stigma against the mentally ill already. Not being snarky.

I mean if it isn't a mental health issue then what is it? Magic? Evil Spirits? Too much cosmic radiation? Attempting to Divide by 0?

Then again what does the APA know about mental health issues anyways.

9. I don't think traffic cops
are outfitted with taser guns. They're not exactly the "cream of the crop." Chu sounds like an idiot.

4. Well why did she call him if she didn't want a ticket in the first place?
I read right here on DU that if you don't want the cops to fuck with you, you should just stop calling them.

And yes, this is heavily sarcasm laced to point out the stupidity of the recent (and the regular) cop defenders around here.

7. Sounds like a serial killer in the making, to me
He's obviously got some very serious control issues that now manifest through giving tickets. It's only a matter of time before he steps it up, IMO.

8. Sounds like the cop we had in our small city when I grew up.
He was such an ass that even the other cops didn't like him. Unfortunately they kept letting him get away with crap. It took 25 years but he finally got swept up in a Federal corruption probe and got sent up the river for 10 years.

11. Sounds like a republicon power tripper - typical type
This kind of power tripping comes out of deep-seated feelings of inferiority and impotence (usually well deserved).

12. Some dick in the comments section actually supports what this idiot did.
Seems to me, watching the video, that Chu is amused by it all. Like he gets some sick joy off of issuing penny-ante bullshit tickets and abusing the system.

when she pulled over to change her tire, she took the closest available spot and it was a no parking space. But that's just speculation on my part.

29. Bingo!
I have gotten a ridiculous number of tickets the past year for very minor infractions -- stuff that would never have gotten a ticket in the past (tires not curbed enough, bumper a few inches into a commercial zone). I have gotten more tickets in the past year than the prior fifteen. It is all about the $$$$$$.

19. We had a cop like that here
After a confrontation, a surgeon actually got in his car and drove away (because he was late for an operation), apparently while the cop was hanging on to the car. The cop was slightly flung away, at which point he got in his police car, and followed him to the hospital and INTO THE OPERATING ROOM. The hospital was furious. Stories about that cop kept coming out in the newspaper over the next few weeks. He was a piece of work. Over a period of decades I have only gotten one ticket and it was from this cop. Infamous!

26. I'm sorry you had a bad experience
I usually stop to help stranded motorists, provided it's safe to do so. I've always found my NY neighbors to be friendly and helpful. Don't confuse our rapid pace with insensitivity. We just move fast. If you can't keep up, get the hell out of the way.

As for the police officer in question here, whatever happened to "protect and serve?"
