There was a turning point, a historical mile marker
that defines the country we are and the country we might have been.

It occurred when we, the party out of power, gained supoena power and the majority in Congress and when Nancy Pelosi announced that impeachment was off the table. That was the ballgame.

All we are afterwards is the result of that.

2. It follows a proud history of whitewashing assassination investigations, the 9/11 "hearings," etc.
The truth hasn't been told about anything in this country, since about WWII or so...

Why would we expect the Dems to suddenly reverse that, and start impeaching criminals of the Bush family?

3. Impeachment would have been a monumental failure.
It's simple, really: party-line vote.

If we can't get a single Republican to vote for relatively inconsequential bills now, do you really think that more than half a dozen Republican Senators would have voted for impeachment?

No chance in hell.

4. Sometimes the fight matters more than the win. Sometimes you just have to do it to get it on record.
So, you can win in the future.

12. Wrong, it would put Bush lies and war profits on record.
And, when the vote would go down, WHICH DOES NOT MATTER, the vote would show the depth of partisanship for stupidity even a FOX news only media could not hide.

Not impeaching will remain Pelosi's shame until the day she gets her last headline the same as the felonious five will be remembered for selecting president post turtle.

13. But it
would have shown that we actually cared...Win ,Lose Or draw it was the thing to do...just as prosecuting the previous admin. for war crimes is still the right(pardon my language here) thing to do regardless of the end result.

14. You act like the whole investigative process and airtime on Cspan
are without any consequence. You just decided in advance that it would be a failure. Your viewpoint and defeatism and cynicism are a failure.

6. It was the rise of the "Lot's Wife" Dem Leadership
"Don't look back, whatever you do. Dire consequences."

A complete load of bs.

The dire consequence of not looking back is the creation of an essentially lawless and unaccountable legislative class.

9. I believe it happened when the Supreme Court selected Bush
Today's reality is just the denouement of that climax.

15. I think it was Iran/Contra...
Same players, still in the game. When they saw what they could get away with it was all over. They used that bravado to do the same thing on Wall Street.

I do believe that the "off the table" was another moment as well. This was a chance to undo the mistake of "just moving forward" as we did with Iran Contra.

I read a post earlier today about someone getting arrested at Wal Mart for stealing Pampers. Funny how a guy just trying to get diapers for his kid isn't allowed to "just move forward".
