Senate Votes to Double Fines, Jail Time for Pot Brownies

Last night, the United States Senate voted to double the penalties for the nation’s newest existential threat: brownies made with marijuana!

The Senate unanimously passed Dianne Feinstein (D-CA)’s “Saving Kids from Dangerous Drugs Act of 2009″ (S. 258) that targets pot brownies and other marijuana edibles preferred by some medical marijuana patients. The bill next moves to the House; if it passes that chamber, anyone making pot brownies or similar products could be subject to double the fines and jail time for regular marijuana.

2. So they've loosened coke laws and tightened pot laws
Something seems a little backward here.

Hopefully, come November this ridiculous bullshit will be a non-issue.

10. Yep....
Epic fail isn't it. Let's lighten the crack cocaine laws and tighten up the marijuana laws. :eyes:

3. Consuming marijuana in edibles seems to....
Greatly dull the psychoactive effect while still providing sustained pain & inflamation relief (as long as you don't go overboard).

At least that's my experience. A Tablespoon of canna-butter a day and you are A-ok!

4. Reason number 733 why I hate Diane Feinstein.
She's an annoyance and an authoritarian. California can and should do better.

7. FYI, a lot of places define "candy" as a confection NOT containing flour.
Now, will this stop law enforcement from throwing whomever they desire in jail, etc, etc?

No, of course not.

Still...

I was hoping to pull up some more supporting documentation but I couldn't find it quickly. The reason why I bring it up is you need a restaurant license to sell food. In the county in which I live in Oregon, there is an exemption for needing a temporary restaurant license for vendors who are selling "confections". Confections are a little more complex than candies.

Again, not like fucking law enforcement will actually pay attention to these sorts of definitions.
