White rumped shama birds have been introed in Hawaii for 60 years. they are in back yard
but...listen to their cousins back in Asia

they are a bit diff than robins and finches

2. we had a pair nesting but them mynahs crashed the nest...the pair is still around but we miss the
intense singing.

now we see them only once or twice a day

they are the only interactive bird we see....they will answer your whistle call ....mimicers they are...

4. I live in Hawaii for a few years as a child
and have fond memories of the mynahs....and sitting on the front step making leis from the plulmerias that grew in our front yard...I remember not having to wear shoes to kindergarten and the prickers in the grass in the backyard....and the smell of the ocean and the fireworks on the island off of Kailua beach on the 4th....

Why my Dad made us move to AZ, I'll never know. :-)

You are so lucky to live there!

22. mynah birds are awesome mimmicks. my uncle's mynahs,
heckle and jeckle, would mimmick anything. A neighbor wanted to fight my uncle once when he knocked on the door and heckle and jeckle told him to "fuck off, you bastard!" :) I still love them after 50 years. :)
