7. Same thing on healthcare and...
every other bill. They and the bluedogs like bayh, nelson and baucas say they want tax cuts for small business in all of the bills and other tax cuts then, they vote against the bill and the Dems let them get away with it without fighting back and giving them what they want..

9. Repug vs. Repug
Edited on Sat Jul-31-10 02:58 PM by MikeMc
Watch the repugs try out a new wedge issue: they are OUTRAGED about the insidious Muslim attempt to defile the sacred Ground Zero site. North Carolina repugs, half term Alaska Governor repugs (she spells it 'refugs'), Florida repugs, Tennessee repugs, Georgia repugs, etc. -- they are all very upset. These are the same people who hate New York City because it isn't 'real America', it's full of liberals and elitists, and it's not in the American heartland, or 'the homeland'. New Yorkers just can't understand how painful it was for the real (red state repug) Americans to see the twin towers collapse, over and over again, on national Fox TV broadcasts. Tom Tomorrow put it well (on 8/30/04), when he talked about the 2004 National Repug convention at Ground Zero:

http://dir.salon.com/story/comics/tomo/2004/08/30/tomo/

But while one slimy repug tentacle runs this latest election gambit up the flagpole, to see if any brain dead 'real Americans' salute, another repug tentacle comes out SIMULTANEOUSLY, and torpedoes aid for the heroes of Ground Zero. Paul Krugman wrote some articles (11/21/01, 2/8/02) about a similarly brazen repug budgetary move, by l'il bush and his political pals:

http://www.nytimes.com/2001/11/21/opinion/reckonings-the-55-cent-solution.html?ref=paulkrugman

http://www.nytimes.com/2002/02/08/opinion/money-grubbing-games.html?ref=paulkrugman

Mr. Krugman wrote these articles to cover the way that the bush repugs stiffed NYC on the funding to help Ground Zero heroes and victims. This was aid that their party had promised the city, in Ground Zero photo ops. They stood on Ground Zero for the cameras, and gave a minimum-estimate pledge of 20 Billion dollars, to help the Americans that the 'evil muslims' had hit hardest on 9/11. Once the cameras left, they made sure that they provided only 55% of the money, and complained about 'little money-grubbing games' (as Mitch Daniels, White House Budget Director, put it), being played by New York's elected officials.

It's no news flash, that the repugs are shamelessly hypocritical. The real news is that the American Public can sit there with a straight face, while repugs make political hay about how badly 9/11 hurt THEM, and make political hay at the same time (with a different tentacle) about how they are right to deny Federal tax money to the New York Americans who helped our nation during 9/11. The real news flash is that Ground Zero is only sacred because little Georgie's feet touched it after 9/11, and that the 'sacredness' stuck to the soles of his shoes. Ground Zero's sacredness goes where the repugs go. A follow up news flash is that a an experiment in recombinant DNA went horribly awry. It produced a creature that was one half kraken, one half swine, and two halfs nazi. The resulting refuglican mutant is at large, and was last seen wandering around 9/11 Ground Zero issues.
